The Great Grand River Flood of 2013

On April 21, 2013, the Grand River crested at its highest point ever, beating out the powerful and destructive flood of 1904 that wiped out a large chunk of the lower West Side.

Thanks to better preparation and a general sense of un-panic, the 2013 flood was more of a spectator sport than crisis. Pictures include the Grand River at the Bridge Street Bridge, on the Wealthy Street Bridge, at Veteran’s Memorial Park Drive and along Leonard Avenue in Ottawa County.

Well each year, Mother Nature does more or less the same thing just outside Zernikow, Germany using the magic of fall colors to reveal a goddamned 40,000 square-foot swastika in the middle of a pine forest.
